New Interview With Ray
Life After My Chemical Romance: Exclusive Ray Toro Interview

RECENTLY, RAY Toro was in his loft. He was looking through his old My Chemical Romance memorabilia – backstage passes from that world tour, posters from another show, outfits from video shoots – and he was having a think about his time in the band.

He had been asked to donate something to a charity event in support of the Make A Wish Foundation. The organisers wanted something unique, if possible, but something small he might not miss. Instead he offered the iconic motorbike helmet he wore in the Na Na Na video and as part of his character within the Danger Days album concept. It blew the organisers of the event away.

Interview: MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE is "for f***ing life".
Written by Shahlin Graves | Friday, 24 February 2012 23:24

MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE guitarist FRANK IERO is standing side-of-stage watching Best Coast's set at the Auckland Big Day Out. He applauds at the end of every single song, squinting thoughtfully in appreciation of the band, with frontman GERARD WAY joining him for a few minutes before it's time for the pair to prepare for their own set on the festival's main stage. Likewise, their band-mate RAY TORO has also been taking advantage of the day's sights and sounds, being quick to tweet his appreciation of a fellow band on the tour: "Vaccines on at BDO. Sound great!"

Dear friends, what follows is a few weeks of our lives in digital form. These photos were taken between the days of January 17th 2012 and February 6th 2012, as we toured the great lands of New Zealand and Australia respectively. As brothers we roamed these grand terrains. Friends were made, enemies slain, pie faces devoured with a quickness and fury. We are better men because of these (mis)adventures, but i must warn you... some of these images cannot nor will not be unseen.
enjoi at your own risk.
no worries. xofrnk

Ray Toro of My Chemical Romance on Tulagi's, Hot Topic and how much the band has changed
Ten years ago, My Chemical Romance (due at the Fillmore this Saturday) was just another aspiring band in a van hoping to make it big. With a handful of three-chord punk rock songs hastily written and recorded in the attic of a house in New Jersey, the young outfit had no idea it would someday be elected to be the unofficial spokespeople for an entire generation of alienated kids.

Now more than a decade after those early attic practice sessions, My Chemical Romance has easily moved from the beer and sweat-soaked clubs to the flashing lights and complicated stage sets of arena shows. In advance of this Saturday night's show at the Fillmore, we spoke with guitarist Ray Toro about some of the things that have changed over the last decade, as well as a couple questions about Hot Topic clothes and the people who wear them.

My Chemical Romance sell-out to Glee
My Chemical Romance guitarists Frank Iero and Ray Toro have insisted they were thrilled to let the Glee cast cover their hit single Sing and become the first rock band to feature on the hugely popular TV show in the process.

Glee gave the song their full treatment in an episode this week and immediately afterwards ‘Sing it for the world,’ the chorus line, shot to the top of the most searched terms on Google.

And Toro reckons having their music featured on the smash hit show is another way for the New Jersey rockers to have their music heard.

My Chemical Romance – the Beatweek interview

Before they could get back on top of the world, My Chemical Romance had to disappear for awhile. They’d seemingly toured their lives away on The Black Parade, and even after taking a year off and coming back together they had to make one album and scrap it before finding their new groove on what would become Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys. With new songs like Na Na Na and Sing having topped the charts and pushed the band into uncharted territory, MCR is headed back out on the road for a tour they say will be just as comprehensive but smarter this time around. As founding guitarist Ray Toro explains to Beatweek ahead of the U.S. tour, My Chemical Romance is in the best place they’ve been as a band – and they’re thinking sufficiently long term that the theme of Danger Days is actually based around what the band might sound like in a decade.

My Chemical Romance: we are not a suicide death cult
Guitarist Ray Toro explains how the New Jersey arena rockers crafted an antidote to their death-obsessed theatrics

After the sensational critical reaction to the death-obsessed decadence of their 2006 concept album The Black Parade, arena rockers My Chemical Romance attempted to tone down the angst on their fourth LP. But the New Jersey quartet found they lacked inspiration once they’d abandoned the drama, and they’ve emerged with a new, futuristic twist on their trademark theatrics with Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys. Before the band gives the new material its Canadian debut on Saturday night (Dec. 17) at the Sound Academy (11 Polson), guitarist Ray Toro talked to EYE WEEKLY about MCR’s reliance on visual cues, and what exactly it feels like to be labeled a suicide death cult.
