in this case, sure, but frank's said shit like this before, which was actually aimed at women. like when he said that the woman on jersey shore deserved to be punched. i don't watch the show myself, but he's pretty much saying that she was asking for it, which is what a lot of men say in order to justify hitting their partners. i'm pretty sure that in that case, frank was supporting a women being hit, which i find disgusting.

i know where you're coming from. but i think you have to be objective and understand that frank is kind of a troll, lol. he tries to get a rise out of people. it's pretty obvious from his tweeting about cops and then jesus and all this shit that are like hot-button topics for people.
i think he enjoys that slightly offensive sense of humor, and though i understand why you might infer that idea from the things he says, it's pretty obvious when you take his comments into context that he is joking. you might not find his humor funny, and that's ok, but i genuinely believe it's just humor lol.

especially being that he supports a lot of charity and equal rights-related movements, like the legalize gay campaign. i just can't see him backing equal rights for gay people, and then being like "lol jk but it's ok to beat up women." just sayin.

Just because you're right on one subject (equal marriage rights, etc) doesn't mean you can't be wrong on other issues, or that you never say dumbass, offensive things. It's not like people are divided into easy categories of 'evil' and 'good'. Frank supports a lot of good causes. Frank says a lot of horrible, offensive things. These are not mutually exclusive things. You can be a misogynist and support gay rights. You can be a racist and donate to children's charities. You can be xenophobic and love fluffy kittens.

See, here's where I disagree with you. I think it's perfectly acceptable to judge someone based on their comments. So when Frank makes several comments that are offensive and sexist, it's perfectly fair to say "hey, maybe Frank is on the misogynistic side!" I'm not sure what more you need to make that decision. I judge people base on their words, personally.

Not that my comment was about that. My comment was pointing out the fallacy of your argument. Saying "Frank can't be a misogynist, he likes the gays!" isn't the strongest argument you can come up with.

even if he's saying all of this as a joke, that doesn't make it any less offensive. not just that, what about the fans who read his tweets and may not realize that he's joking (though, personally, i think he believes a lot of what he says)? those fans will think that hitting woman can be justified. plus, even if it is a joke, it's reinforcing the opinion that sometimes hitting women is acceptable.

he's great when it comes to gay rights, but that doesn't mean he doesn't fail in other ways. plenty of people who support gay right, or even are gay themselves, fail when it comes to sexism. feminists can be offensive when talking about race, or can be ableist. and so on. people fail, and that's ok just as long as you're willing to learn. but i don't think that frank is.

what else can i base my judgment on? this is the face he's chooses to show his fans, and it's misogynistic. and it's more than two things, there was also when he said how he wishes a woman had aborted her baby by sitting on a coat hanger. disgusting and sexist! and i'm sure there's more, but i've tried not to read what he posts.

even if he doesn't believe what he's saying, he's still posting sexist things! being ironically sexist is just as shitty, especially when not everyone realizes that you're joking. like i said, fans may actually think he's being honest, and that's really problematic.

i do understand where you're coming from. but though he might not be trying to be intentionally misogynistic, what he's saying still is. it's probably just a case of what he's saying is sexist rather than him actually being sexist.

i guess we just have to agree to disagree on what his intentions are, especially as neither one of us know him and so can comment on what they might be.
