It's a US promotion for people wanting to participate in Record Store Day in the US. They pressed 2,000 picture discs solely for this event in the US. It's not a worldwide promotion, it's a US promotion. It will be available exclusively for Record Store Day in the US at participating stores. If that's being disingenuous but it gets people out to record stores, good for them.

They can't feel duped on the price, just the fact they didn't have to go online and pay extra fees for the same thing to get shipped to them from a different country. Boohoo.

I collect vinyl, I love that they're involved in promoting record stores. But if you're collecting vinyl, you don't want to be told there is a limited run of a certain vinyl, regardless of location or price, only to find it's been replicated elsewhere, identically. I may be totally wrong, and they could have numbered sleeves that make this batch unique. The collector's side was the only side of the argument I was defending.

I'm not even fussed, I already own one. I was just bugged for other fans.

You're assuming I don't collect vinyl and don't care about those same exact things. But you know what, I'm going to give fans the benefit of the doubt and being able to read what it says. It's something for US fans and for this event and an opportunity to purchase it in store. If you're a collector and you're collecting for exclusivity chances are you shop overseas at HMV and already own it. If you're not, it's the opportunity to go out to a record store and explore the opportunity and purchase something just because you love it.

And yes, you don't know if this run is different or not, it doesn't indicate that anywhere.

Email Warner if it's something that is really bothering you and you want it clarified or the text changed. Otherwise, being bothered solely on the behalf of other fans seems pointless and silly.

If people have a question on the run or any of the language involved, they can certainly ask or look around to see especially if they're a collector. The promotion isn't even until April, plenty of time to mark it, forget about it, research it, chat about it, or whatever. It's not something anyone is going to go out and purchase at a record store tomorrow. But to me, the text seems very clear and seeing as the picture disc HAS been on sale in the UK and Canada for quite some time, it doesn't seem likely that 2,000 fans are going to be duped, especially fans that read and comment on MCR's website.

The wording seems really clear to me personally, it's now being sold in the US for this promotion. It doesn't indicate that it isn't sold in other countries, it's just sold for a limited run in the US. You say you're bugged on the behalf of other fans but...I think fans can make their own decisions and collectors DOUBLY so. But posting the link and information about where else you can purchase it could help other fans out as well, they've got plenty of time to read up on it and follow links.

I'm not bugged! I just took it as there are 2000 available for this specific promotion, which is always intended to get people physically into record stores. I figured I could get one online somewhere either before or after, but I'm happier to get one at my local vinyl shop.

We still disagree but I obviously came on much too strong for something not such a big deal. I tend to get very involved in arguing my side which is absolutely a fault of mine. I just wanted to apologize for that and for anything I said that upset you.

Not so much upset, just taken aback on how it turned into something so fallacious. But hey, life would be dull if we all just agreed with each other! Thank you for apologising, I know I can be quite frustrating, I find it hard to explain my view point.

And to everyone else, I'm sorry that you became involved.
