yeah it does make sense. I think he just took it wrong that this person called him a racist, what he most probably isn't. I agree that he made it worse trying to defend himself (or more like...his friend) but well, I can't condemn people because of that, I fuck up a LOT and sometimes we don't realise how much a simple word can matter. We sometimes think it's not offensive if we didn't mean it that way.

I think intentions are more important than words, maybe that's why I just can't react the same way to a word than most people. We can't know what someone was thinking on the internet...it's trickly.

I agree that it's a tricky situation and that there can be a lot of variables but again, when someone tells you something is hurtful, racist or problematic the response should not be to go on the defense. I am not condemning Frank, I'm sure people are and rightly so for being insensitive and ignorant. That is their decision and their right as an offended party or person.

I often fuck up, in my thoughts and in my words. But I've learned as I've matured and grown older to take some steps back, take a deep breath and think about what I said and how it was harmful. That's what people want and that's why people will continue to call out this sort of thing when they see it. Hopefully Frank will as well but he can't help himself if he's not confronted and called out.

See? With this I completely agree. Frank doesn't have the best reactions when someone pisses him off, I know that, I guess that's why he didn't think before replying to that person. Hopefully someone explained to him in person that even if he didn't have bad or racist intentions when retwiting that (I doubt he did, my parents sometimes make comments that make me cringe, and I tell them it was WRONG, but I KNOW they're no racists)he still shouldn't have. He gets so much shit and crappy comments in twitter that i think he can't people seriously there anymore, he gets too defensive. Not saying that's ok, but it's somehow understandable. I'm sure that it'll be different if someone had a talk with him in person. Even if that person was a fan, I'm sure it'd be completely different in person. the internet just SUCKS for these kind of things, that's a fact.

I just...don't like extremes, that's all. I'm really sorry if someone misunderstood it because I never wanted to say that what he did was right. I just don't like it when people just attack.

I know the feeling with the parents, my father has said problematic things to me and in general, comments that are racist and innappropriate. And I call him out, because I know that's the right thing to do. It's your right to expect and assume the best in people. Just as long as you are able to accept the worst as well and confront it and recognize it. Thank you for being open to this discussion.

Yes...I'm always telling especially my dad how WRONG/inappropriate/racist some things he says are. He sometimes tries to defend himself, just as Frank did and makes it worse, but at the same time I realise he doesn't mean any harm. Yet he still keeps making wrong comments now and then. So yeah, from personal experience I just don't like to quickly judge people, even less through the internet. If I read someone make a very clear racist(or any other type or offensive)comment, something that goes beyond a word and has no other possible explanation/justification/etc of course I accept it as it is, no matter who said it. Sometimes people are plain offensive without using ANY specific word, and those comments are often the worst.
