They weren't excuses, just a different interpretation,I was just pointing out that you can't directly call someone racist because of this. People make mistakes, just tell them they were wrong.

Yes, I think that person should have said something like, "What you said is problematic and racist" instead of labeling Frank as a "racist". I agree with that. But your original comment was making excuses for him, and that shit is not on.

No, I wasn't trying to excuse him, again, just explaining my interpretation, and giving my view of how, from the outside, the use of that word might seem confusing. And yes, I think something like that should have been more appropriate.

Yes, I'm aware of that. You said something and spoke up and confronted him, that's awesome. Hopefully he'll have thought about it more but if not, at least you said something. The burden is on Frank to make himself a better person.
