Living On The Railways...
Saturday April 30, 2011 | Posted by: Gerard
I think the word Glenn Beck was looking for was "subversion" not "propaganda", because I don't know what it would be considered propaganda for- truth? sentiment?
And I can't tell what he's angrier about- the fact that it's how I feel about the persistent sterilization of our culture or the fact that it's on network television for everyone to hear.
And railways? Is it 1863? Seen any children living on these lately instead of the internet?
I'm actually shocked that no actual fact-checking was done on the lyrics. I mean Fox is a major news channel, covering factual topics in an unbiased and intelligent-
oh wait-
To quote the man himself- "You don't have to live by the standards that society has set,"
I couldn't agree more.

PS- drawing is a depiction of an actual situation involving children, indeed "living on the railways" with one Jimmy "Backscratch Pete" Mulrooney, of Kansas City.

EXCEPT... IN THE GLEE VERSION THEY SAY "RAILWAYS" AS WELL.... LOL.
DID NO ONE EVEN BOTHER TO GLANCE AT THE LYRIC BOOK OR CHECK AND MAKE SURE THEY WERE RIGHT?!

But yeah, I can't understand how they didn't make sure they were using the right lyrics. It's as if they had gone with what they misheard.

I honestly had no idea what the real lyrics were. I can't hear what Gerard's singing half the time on this record. XD

But yeah, I can't understand half of what Gerard says either. The Glee people probably didn't check the actual booklet and "railways" is what they understood. :P

And, webways isn't exactly a common word and if you don't know that he's singing that you might not hear it. I think it sounds kind of like a mix between the words, kind of like 'wailways' and before that it sounded like 'airways.' XD
Also, the thing is that with this album the booklet seems kind of incorrect in some places. I remember when it was first out and a lot of people were finding words that were really far from what we could hear. So I don't know how trustworthy the booklet even is. XD

And yep, true about the booklet. In Bulletproof Heart, it says "too much talking with a laser blade". Then Gerard mentioned in an interview how that song kinda started all the 'theme', and quoted the line "I do my talking with a laser beam" And I was: "wait...but you changed that". Then I listened again and realised it does say that, and the booklet is wrong.

Yeah, and laserblade doesn't even make sense because of the rayguns, you know? If they had lightsabers or whatever it would be cool, though, because then they would have laserblades. *random wishful thinking*

"I do my talking with a laser beam" sounds much cooler than what's on the booklet, though, so I'm glad the booklet's wrong.

However, I must confess to endless amusement that he initially posted it with no drawing attached where he said the drawing would be, and had to go back and edit the post. And threw in a little extra quote at the end.
As someone who's been sneakily going back and fixing my typos without an "ETA" for ten years, I sympathize. :D

It just amused me to think that even Gerard makes impulse late-night blog posts that he has to go back to and edit. [grins]
