Because it needs to be said again: VEGAN IS NOT VEGETARIAN. Pretty sure the guy does not eat meat and has an intolerance for dairy. I'm irritated seeing that false equivalency thrown around.

And also, pretty sure the guy is joking about his height. Typically you just guess/write it in. A DMV height/weight is not your official height/weight.

Otherwise this was super cute! I'm glad he was able to scroll by the obnoxiousness and find some fun things to answer.

*Dunno why people kept saying he was vegan when he's talked about eating butter sandwiches on tour and he once said on Twitter that he lives off eggs. :P

Vegan means you eat no dairy, poultry, meat, fish - nothing animal-based. Even honey, sometimes. Vegetarian usually just means no meat or fish. And lactose intolerant means no dairy. Like, milk is a big issue usually - it's hard for the person to digest, or whatever. I was lactose intolerant for a while, kind of still am.

So while a lactose intolerant vegetarian could eat, like, eggs, and occasionally risk cheese and yogurt and crap since small amounts don't usually have a bad effect, a total vegan would be all NOOOOOOO about all of the above.

....That was not the best explanation, forgive me. XD

That was fine. I knew one was no animal and one no meat at all but didn't know exactly which one was which. No offense but WTF do vegans eat then? Sounds like they can't eat anything.

Dairy gets replaced by tofu and other soy products like soy butter, soymilk (which I love), and soy cheese, plus there's always pasta, rice, and all fruits and vegetables. :)

So for example, a vegan could totes have lasagna. It would just have to be vegan lasagna.

Okay. Thanks. My mom gets soymilk now so while I don't like it I can drink it. I always thought Tofu was just the main food/ingredient so learning that soy is one also is interesting. :)) whole discussion is interesting. Thank u again.

The Fun Ghool shop! 5'7"! Mikeyway does not, in fact, want anything and everything related to a unicorn! Frank was never vegan (and it does not seem to have been for animal-related reasons)(is he vegetarian tho?)!

Frank has never indicated he eats meat (as recently as the shooting of the Na Na Na video when he made a point of the beans being vegetarian), the question was about veganism. He may or may not eat fish which is a different type of vegetarianism.

Oh, I know - I'm a vegetarian, I know the differences - but seeing as he didn't mention animals at all in the tweet, I was just wondering if lactose intolerance and 'weird dietary requirements' came before 'hey I love animals' as a reason for his eating habits....

Well it's a short tweet that was more about the person's assumption that he was vegan which, as you know, is a whole different thing. It wouldn't surprise me either way, I believe he's said before that he doesn't like how animals are treated etc. etc. And it seems like he's treating the question strictly about DAIRY and not about MEAT which he could have entirely different reasons for. Obviously his health is probably his priority when deciding what he can and can't eat but it's not a main factor in his dairy consumption.

Either way, it's obviously meant to clear up the veganism thing that's always been floating around. I see no reason to discount anything else. And that's all I'm going to say about his possible eating habits!

I think the not eating meat is for more than one reason in his case, 'cause he's said he doens't digest meat well or something like that. Yet, he's spoken about animals rights, etc. more than once; so it's probably both. Like..."I don't eat meat 'cause I love animals but even if wanted to, it makes me sick."

I'm just happy that whole vegan thing got cleared up, because it always bothers me in fic when it is announced that he's vegan and then they all have grilled cheese... also, I can relate to the whole "I have so many allergies, I can't really eat vegan" - I was a vegetarian for 4 or 5 years and started eating meat again, because I'm allergic to every possible vegan protein source ever (beans, soy, certain kinds of wheat, and so on).

I just could never understand what made people think he was vegan (unless it's the fact that many think vegan and vegetarian is the same?) when he -at least- has mentioned eating butter and eggs. Maybe (I don't remember) he just said he didn't drink milk and that translated to 'vegan'. :P And yeah, true, you can avoid lactose and still have milk products.

I have no food allergies, I just hate most vegetables with a passion. Love dairy and I've always been omnivorous. xD

People can never keep being vegan and being vegetarian apart. I had friends who were vegan and they were pretty malnourished, because it's fucking difficult to eat vegan and still get all the important vitamins and minerals into your system. You have to really know your stuff around food and most people don't have the energy for that. I can imagine it might be pretty difficult on tour.

I have my allergies under control right now, so I guess I could start eating vegetarian again, but I stopped eating meat in the first place because it made me sick (I had food poisening).

I have the same problem; I stopped eating meat cause i couldn't digest it well and after some time into a vegan diet, i developed weird food allergies and it made me go vegetarian and after a while, i started to eat meat again but once in a while. :/

I got food poisening from some meat I ate and had actually prepared myself - so, after that I got sick whenever I smelled or saw raw or cooked meat. I ate fish, though, for about once a month. I'm histamine intolerant and at some point in the winter of 2006 my histamine intolerance was really bad - I had itchy rashes and raw skin all over my chest and belly and thighs and I barely could eat anything without breaking out in hives or getting migraines. I couldn't keep my weight, either. I got the flu then, too, and I was suddenly craving chicken noodle soup. I started eating white meat, then and stopped eating fish and cut back down on soy products and my allergic reactions got less. nowadays it's not as bad anymore - I eat a lot of vegetarian food and I can totally stomach soy products again (thank God, I love tofu and beans) - I rarely have problems at the moment.
