Having to think before you speak to make sure what you're about to come out with isn't offensive is part of normal adult life. I don't know what kind of world you live in where people can say what they want and no oppressive meanies can judge people in bands or anyone else for the words they broadcast publicly, but I really need to come visit, because I am still not getting a decent point out of you.
And regarding triggers, yes, anything can be a trigger. But there's a difference between common triggers and uncommon triggers. Example: a certain smell, say an aftershave worn by a rapist while committing an assault = uncommon trigger. A joke about uppercutting a vagina, or coathanger abortions = much more likely to trigger by nature of its context.
