What we say and how we behave is EXACTLY what we are judged on, jokes or not. It's how we represent ourself that forms people's opinions about us. And Frank's isn't making knock-knock jokes here, come on.
His tweets show a habit of mocking women and finding entertainment value in violence against women. From his digs at how females choose to style their hair, right through to laughing about 'battered' women and stating that a woman whose children she couldn't control should have given herself an abortion.
Now, the fact that he's not put 'I HATE ANYTHING WITH A VAGINA' on his weekly tweets is irrelevant. These things listed above are textbook misogynistic traits. And you're probably right; he doesn't guess that people will be offended by it. But that's because he's male, and doesn't have to deal with the issues concerned from his privileged position. He is ignorant to the problems with his own behavior. That isn't a 'get out of criticism free' pass, sorry.
This is exactly how violence and disrespect against women is allowed to flourish and continue unchallenged. Because people aren't called out on it, and remain ignorant to it. Because people like Frank do it, so hey, what can be wrong about it?
Frank is an adult, and in a position of power where his twittered words are broadcast to millions of impressionable people via the band's website.
You're right, people can just choose not to follow him. But his insults and blatant sexism is attached to a band who claim to respect women and empower them in what is traditionally a very sexist music scene.
I didn't come here to argue either. But I think the people defending Frank here really need to think about how Frank himself might be at fault, rather than leaping to his aid every single time.
