Michael Chemical Romance In The Studio Recording “Their Heaviest Material Yet”

My Chemical Romance have hit the studio to record their follow-up to The Black Parade released in 2006. Gerard Way has revealed that the new album is going to be more stripped down, without any bells or whistles and the heaviest material they have ever written, going a completely opposite way to the sound of The Black Parade.

The new album is being produced by Brendan O’Brien who recently produced Billy Talent, AC/DC and Incubus. One good indication of how an album is going to sound is what other bands and albums the producer has done. I’m going out on a whim here, but I’m willing to bet My Chemical Romance are going to return to their older sound (I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love and Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge) which you could call semi-heavy.

"At this point, the best way to describe the new album is My Chemical Romance being the purest, most distilled version of itself,” Way says. “No bells and whistles, as the focus has been on melody and songwriting. If it doesn’t work in a room with just the five of us, we aren’t trying to make it work in the studio with effects and string sections."

My Chemical Romance are coming to Australia in February, 2010 to play Soundwave Festival and new material is sure to be played.
