Umbrella Academy Now Available On iPhone

Dark Horse has announced that Mike Mignola's Hellboy and Gerard Way's The Umbrella Academy are now available on the iPhone.

If you've read either books, you know how great they are. Alan Moore has called Hellboy "a passport to a corner of funnybook heaven you may never want to leave." Grant Morrison has called The Umbrella Academy "one of the great new comic books of this decade." I know people seem a little reluctant to have 'digital' comics but if you look at the price, this is a great way to check out some really good books you might have missed out on. Also, how often are stuck somewhere wishing you had something to read. I don't usually make a habit of carrying around comics with me. Having comics on your iPhone might not be your first preference but it's worth checking out in this format.

The first issues of both books are now available through the iTunes Store with subsequent issues available soon. Seed Of Destruction is available as four issues at $0.99 each or as a bundle of all four issues for $3.99. The first issue of Apocalypse Suite is available for free, with issues #2 - #6 at $0.99 each (or a bundle of all six issues for $4.99).

... *shakes head sadly*

i'll be honest.... i think ebooks are ridiculous. I read on the internet and write shit on the internet... but a comic book or normal book is something that... just BUYING it should be an experience. You can't smell a book that is digital. You can't feel the pages under your fingertips either.

It's just a matter of principle for me.

And for those of us who's nearest comic store is 4 hours away?

I much prefer the real thing too, but a good digital copy (legal or no) is pretty much the only way I get to read them.

i understand that, since i also dont even KNOW where one is (not for a good few hours, i know that much) but still... its just a personal choice i guess. Its like... i'll read stuff on the internet all the time but if its a BOOK... i want the ACTUAL thing.

With you all the way :)

If I had a choice, my house would be full of books. As it is, I'm having to get rid of a heap :(
Damn lack of space.

Gah, i dont have enough! i never get rid of books.... but then again, i dont really have many. I have one bookcase of them. probably... eh.... 50 i'd say. And my text books. I dont even sell back my text books!... although when i finish college algebra, that puppy is GONE! I paid $188 for that bitch and i'm SURE i can sell it for $100... (and probably go buy a REAL book, not some rubbish with stinking numbers all over the place)

Algebra ... *shudders*

I havea about 130 in my To Sell pile. And that's about 1/3 of al the books I own.

When I was a teenager (who did nothing but sit in her room and read) at one point I had over 600 :)

Honestly? I have no idea where the money came from either :D
A lot of them are second hand though.
