Chemistry Lessons: What My Chemical Romance Learned Making ’Danger Days'

It’s been a long time since My Chemical Romance released “Welcome To The Black Parade”; four years, to be exact. That gave them a lot of time for introspection and dissection of what they were doing — and they did so much of that, they wound up having to record two albums before they had one they were happy with. What they’ve come up with is “Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys,” an album that’s been winning rave reviews in spite of (or possibly because of) the fact that the album challenges the band’s longtime fans with a different sound than previous MCR releases. In this exclusive interview with Chris Leary, the members of My Chemical Romance talk about how they’ve changed since the “Black Parade” days and how “Danger Days” finally came together.
